Langley DPAC would like to thank the candidates and the public for attending our All Candidates Meeting on Oct. 29th, 2008. We are pleased to provide the audio files of the candidates' answers to the questions posed to them that evening.

Introduction
Question 1 Tell us why you believe you will be able to best serve the needs of students in the Langley School District. i.e. What skills, attitudes or beliefs, and experience do you bring to the table? Why is it important?
Question 2 Significant policies and decisions have been implemented over the past few years in the school district. Public concerns have been raised about the quality of the work that the Board as a whole, and trustees as individuals, have done. If elected, what will you say to your fellow trustees on the new board about consultation, accountability, and relationships with respect to the work you will do together over the next term?
Question 3 Langley District’s 2008 - 2012 Achievement Contract contains 3 goals and 1 focus. Please choose one of them and tell us what you know about the achievement of Langley students with respect to your choice. Share with us your thoughts on any aspect of the contract. i.e. process, objectives, actions, targets, attainment, responsibility, etc.
Question 4 What do you believe are key concerns for ALL parents regarding the delivery of special needs services in the school district? Other than finances, what do you believe are key concerns for trustees regarding the provision of services to special needs students? How do you intend to reconcile the differences, if any? What steps will you take to work towards improving the achievement of each individual special needs child?
Question 5 The recent establishment of a middle school was regarded with anxiety by some parents and with anticipation by other parents. What do you want to say to all parents about middle schools in Langley? What will you do as a trustee with respect to future board decisions about middle schools?
Question 6 Considering the public push back from last year’s decision making process in the reconfiguration of South/Central Langley, what if anything would you change in the process and how would you work toward healing?
Question 7 What initiatives will you as trustee take to ensure the continued success of the AVID program in Langley schools?
Question 8 Would you care to comment on the Premiere’s new concept on schools as neighbourhoods of learning?
Question 9 In your opinion what was the biggest decision and/or greatest achievement of the school board this current term?
Question 10 Are you being endorsed by any formal organization? If so, which ones? Do you belong to a union? If so, which ones? Do you see a time during your trusteeship where this may be a conflict of interest?
