Thursday February 08,2007The School Fees survey is now closed. Thank you to all 875 who participated! Your executive has spent many hours going through the results and all 261 of the additional comments. We had a very good response rate and our demographics are spot on with the Stats Can census results for 2001 (the 2006 results are not yet available). We have very relevant data to present to the board and the ministry in time for budgeting and/or legislative changes for the next school year. Our summary report based on the results will be posted on this site as soon as it is available. Again, thank you to all who took the time to let us know your opinions on this subject.
The following is a quick survey regarding special needs students who are on school leaving certificates. Your quick response would be most appreciated – this survey closes on the afternoon of Monday February 12th. We did say quick!
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?A=163386645E81660The next DPAC meeting is March 1st and we will be hearing from our district Secretary-Treasurer about the District Budget process and how you and your PAC can have input into it. DPAC will be putting together a survey on this subject for parents and will post the link here at the end of February. The final budget for next year is not approved by the board until April so PAC’s and parents will have the month of March to have their say. And don’t forget the Budget Open House on April 17th at 6pm. It’s a great opportunity to really see where the money is planned to be spent for the next year. Everyone is welcome to attend!

Wednesday Jan. 10, 2007School Fees Survey online!
District Parent Advisory Councils participating in the School Fees and Related Issues Survey are extending the deadline to January 31, 2007 to accommodate the strong interest indicated by parents from throughout the province. There are now 11 Districts representing over 175,000 students involved in this survey.
The Langley District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) was part of the original group that designed the survey. Participation in Langley is very encouraging with almost 400 responses already received. The survey, which takes about 10 minutes to complete, explores various topics including the purpose of public education, appropriate funding from various sources, equity and opportunity for students, and the effect on parent involvement. Parents of Langley students are encouraged to go to http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=813623051247 and add their voice. If you or anyone you know requires a paper copy of the survey, please contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Thank you.
A final report to the Board and Ministry will be prepared early in February.
